Siemens, Teal Park, Lincoln
New service operations centre for leading global engineering and technology services company Siemens.
In may of 2017 OBoyle Brothers LTD were appointed to undertake the bulk earthworks and groundworks packages for existing client Simons Construction. The site for the new operations centre was located on a 8500m2 grass meadow adjacent the existing Siemens factory. Once on site OBoyle Brothers were tasked with the stripping and removing of surface topsoil followed by a 5100m3 reduce level excavation implementing 2D machne control. A 600mm thick pilling matt was then installed in accordance with the engineers specifications to obtain a CBR result of 30% at top of piling matt. This required all filling opertions to be carried out in 200mm layers and thorough compaction methods on each layer.
In only 4 weeks of construction time OBoyle Brothers were able to excavate around 3300 ton of material to make way for the new RC foundations, install 80 ton of scheduled re bar and place 1500m3 of concrete. This rapid moving programme resulted in attentive and precise planning from our on site team to ensure delays and distruption would not occur. Other works carried out included surface and foul water drainage systems with a 145m rising main installed on the foul system to alleviate issues with lack of fall. Concrete was pumped and placed a total of 3 storeys to mezzanine office space flooring with powerfloat finishes, installation of PCC ground beams and a 1300m2 extension to the existing car park also formed part of the groundworks scheme.
Now in the final stages of the project OBoyle Brothers are completing surface water drainage and external concrete yards.
