Bishop Burton Agricultural College, Lincoln

New accommodation & agricultural education facility for Bishop Burton college at the Lincolnshire Showground in Riseholme, Lincoln.

Commencing works in August 2014 O’Boyle Brothers Ltd are nearing completion of a large groundworks package at a new agricultural education facility near Lincoln.

The brief was to provide infrastructure to construct three large educational buildings, the largest being science & innovation (a curved structure,) animal science and a workshop building for training and learning related to agricultural machinery.

Working for our client, Hobson and Porter based in Hull, we have carried out extensive works such as earthworks, re-inforced concrete foundations, drainage systems including the underground attenuation storage units, concrete floor slabs, roads and car-parks whilst incorporating the latest environmental eco systems.

Also included in this contract was 250m of adopted cycle way linking the new project to the A15. We also installed 900m of 90mm pumping main leading from the site and discharging to the existing foul waste treatment plant at RAF Scampton. A large percentage of this pumping main was completed at night due to the route of the main running alongside the A15 and road lane closures not being permitted in the day time. A significant on-site pumping station containing multi structures collects the foul waste from the three new builds and has the capacity to cater for the future phases.

Working closely with our client we have developed our relationship to hand-over this impressive new facility on time and within budget. O'Boyle Brothers have been awarded the next phase commencing mid to late August 2015 with a value estimated at 1 to £1.5 million.

Chris Mann was our site manager well assisted by our trainee engineer Joe Tobin.
